TTD’s recent donation of Rs 1 crore aims to enhance healthcare services, but leadership controversies raise questions about governance.
The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) has recently received a significant donation of Rs 1 crore from Chennai-based Subbarow Apparels, aimed at bolstering the Sri Balaji Arogya Varaprasadini scheme. This initiative is designed to enhance medical facilities and acquire advanced equipment for underprivileged patients at the Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS).
The donation was officially handed over to TTD’s Additional Executive Officer, Ch Venkaiah Chowdary, marking a notable contribution to TTD’s ongoing efforts to extend its role beyond spiritual services into healthcare and social welfare.
However, the positive impact of this donation is overshadowed by controversies surrounding TTD’s leadership. Bhumana Karunakar Reddy, a prominent figure in the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP), has publicly criticized B.R. Naidu, the current TTD Chairman, for allegedly misusing VIP darshan privileges for political gain. Reddy has called for Naidu’s immediate removal, labeling his actions as “indecent and disgraceful.”
