Sanjay Dutt has been summoned by the NCW due to allegations of obscenity in a song from the film ‘KD: The Devil’.
The song ‘Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke’ has recently come under fire for allegations of obscenity and vulgarity, prompting the National Commission for Women (NCW) to take action. The NCW has summoned Sanjay Dutt and other individuals involved with the song to appear before them on March 24, 2026, to address these serious allegations.
The controversy centers around the song’s lyrics and choreography, which many have deemed sexually suggestive and objectionable. Following widespread criticism, the Hindi version of the song was removed from YouTube, highlighting the growing concerns regarding its content.
The NCW has taken suo motu cognizance of media reports regarding the song, stating, “The National Commission for Women, in exercise of its powers under the NCW Act, 1990, has taken suo motu cognizance of media reports alleging obscenity and vulgarity in the song ‘Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke’.” This statement underscores the commission’s commitment to addressing issues related to women’s dignity and representation in media.
Nora Fatehi, who recorded the Kannada version of the song three years ago, expressed her confusion regarding the controversy, stating, “I don’t understand the Kannada language, in which the original song, Sarse Ninna, is composed.” This raises questions about the translation process and the intentions behind the lyrics.
Raqueeb Alam, the lyricist, defended the song, explaining that he was instructed to do a literal translation from the Kannada version, which he claims he followed. However, he also warned the makers that the Hindi lyrics could be perceived as vulgar, indicating a potential disconnect between creative intent and public reception.
The song is part of the upcoming Kannada film ‘KD: The Devil’, directed by Prem and starring Dhruv Sarja. The Hindi version was released earlier in March 2026, and its swift removal from platforms like YouTube reflects the immediate backlash it received.
As the situation unfolds, the NCW has indicated that failure to appear before them may invite appropriate action as per law. This adds a layer of urgency for those summoned, including Dutt, who must now navigate the implications of this controversy.
Observers are keenly watching how this situation will develop, particularly in light of the NCW’s proactive stance. The outcome of the hearing on March 24 could set a precedent for how similar cases are handled in the future, especially in the context of artistic expression versus societal norms.
Details remain unconfirmed regarding the specific actions that may be taken following the NCW’s hearing, but the involvement of such a significant body indicates that the matter is being taken seriously.
