Petrol news today: What is the Latest on in Gujarat and Bangladesh?

Recent social media rumors have led to long queues at petrol pumps in Gujarat, while Bangladesh faces potential shutdowns due to fuel shortages.

What is the latest on petrol news today in Gujarat and Bangladesh? Recent events have raised concerns about fuel availability in both regions, prompting a mix of panic buying and official reassurances.

In Gujarat, social media rumors have led to long queues at petrol pumps, with some individuals waiting up to five hours to fill their tanks. However, authorities have confirmed that there is no actual shortage of petrol or diesel in the state. Dhimant Ghelani from the Federation of Gujarat Petroleum Dealers Association stated, “There is no actual shortage of petrol or diesel in the state.”

Officials have also indicated that the situation is expected to normalize within this week itself. Temporary disruptions in the supply chain were attributed to recent holidays, which affected fuel distribution. In response, the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) has introduced adjustments in lifting norms to ensure smoother fuel distribution in Gujarat.

Meanwhile, the situation in Bangladesh is more precarious. The Bangladesh Petrol Pump Owners’ Association has warned of potential petrol pump shutdowns due to ongoing fuel shortages. Many petrol pumps in Dhaka and other areas have remained closed, exacerbating the situation.

The fuel crunch in Bangladesh is linked to global supply disruptions tied to tensions in West Asia, which have further complicated the availability of fuel. Panic buying has been reported in both Gujarat and Bangladesh as consumers rush to secure fuel amid fears of shortages.

In Gujarat, two dealers can collectively procure up to 20,000 litres of fuel at a time, indicating that while supply is adequate, consumer behavior is significantly influenced by rumors and misinformation.

Details remain unconfirmed regarding the broader implications of the fuel situation in Bangladesh. As authorities work to address these challenges, the focus remains on restoring normalcy and ensuring that consumers have access to necessary fuel supplies.
