Bangalore weather: What’s Happening with After the Hailstorm?

Bengaluru has experienced a sudden hailstorm, signaling a dramatic shift from recent heat waves. This event highlights significant temperature fluctuations in the region.

Bengaluru has recently recorded temperatures between 34°C and 36°C, but on April 29, 2026, the city faced a sudden hailstorm that disrupted this prevailing heat. This unexpected weather phenomenon signifies a notable shift in local climate patterns.

The hailstorm transformed parts of Bengaluru into icy landscapes, leaving many residents surprised. As thunderstorms are expected later in the day, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert for rain, lightning, and gusty winds across Karnataka.

That context matters because Bengaluru is typically known for its moderate climate. However, this April has seen warmer-than-usual conditions. Just days prior to the hailstorm, temperatures had even touched 36.8°C at Kempegowda International Airport.

The IMD’s weather alerts indicate that minimum temperatures are forecast to drop to 22°C overnight. The probability of rain is expected to rise to over 50% between 7 PM and 9 PM on April 29.

Officials have noted that this hailstorm marks the beginning of increased pre-monsoon activity in the region. One observer commented, “Nature just replied with rain,” emphasizing how quickly weather can change.

As residents brace for more thunderstorms, they must also prepare for potential disruptions caused by these temperature fluctuations. Such shifts can affect daily life and local ecosystems alike.
