Badshah, a well-known Indian rapper, is currently facing legal scrutiny after an FIR was registered against him for his song ‘Tateeree’. The FIR cites violations under Section 296 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Sections 3 and 4 of the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, 1986.
The song has drawn criticism for allegedly depicting minor girls in school uniforms throwing their school bags and running away from studies. In response to the backlash, the Haryana Police have initiated the process of issuing a Look Out Circular (LOC) against Badshah to prevent him from leaving the country.
In a public statement, Badshah expressed regret, stating, “I never intended to say anything objectionable against any woman or child from Haryana… If anyone is hurt, I seek apology. I expect that you will forgive me by considering me the son of Haryana.” This apology comes as the Haryana State Commission for Women has summoned him to appear on March 13.
The police have also removed the song from YouTube and are working to take it down from other platforms. Additionally, the Haryana Roadways bus featured in the video is under investigation to determine if proper permissions were obtained for its use.
Two FIRs have been filed in connection with the song’s content, one by the cybercrime police and another by Jind Police. Haryana Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda condemned the video, stating, “The depiction of school girls in the song and the manner our culture is shown in it is condemnable.”
Badshah, whose real name is Aditya Pratik Singh Sisodia, is known for his contributions to the Haryanvi music genre. The ongoing controversy has sparked discussions about the responsibility of artists in portraying sensitive subjects.
As the situation develops, Badshah is expected to comply with the summons and appear before the police as required. Meanwhile, police investigations into the video and its production continue.
