Ashok Kharat’s recent arrest has sparked a viral video controversy, highlighting serious allegations and political implications.
The recent arrest of Ashok Kharat has raised significant questions about the implications of his viral video and the surrounding allegations. Kharat was taken into custody following a complaint from a 27-year-old woman, who accused him of sexual exploitation over a three-year period, from 2022 to 2025.
The FIR against Kharat was registered on March 17, 2026, leading to a swift investigation. He faces serious charges under sections 64 and 69 of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) and Section 3 of the Maharashtra Prevention and Eradication of Human Sacrifice and other Inhuman, Evil and Aghori Practices and Black Magic Act, 2013.
As part of the investigation, videos recovered after Kharat’s arrest are currently being examined. One particularly controversial video shows Rupali Chakankar washing Kharat’s feet, which has drawn criticism and raised eyebrows among political leaders and the public alike.
Opposition figures have seized on this incident to criticize the Maharashtra government, alleging connections between Kharat and prominent politicians. Sanjay Raut, a notable opposition leader, remarked, “Maharashtra’s Epstein file has been opened,” suggesting a broader scandal may be unfolding.
In response to the growing controversy, Minister of State for Home Yogesh Kadam assured the public that police would take stringent action against anyone involved in the case. He stated, “The investigation will be impartial. Anyone found involved will face action.” This commitment to transparency is crucial as the investigation progresses.
Rupali Chakankar, who has been drawn into the controversy, has publicly stated, “I have no knowledge about Kharat’s personal life or the allegations made against him,” distancing herself from the unfolding drama.
Additionally, Sushma Andhare, another political figure, expressed concerns about the potential misuse of power, stating, “It is quite possible that she might once again misuse her position as the women’s commission chief.” This highlights the complex interplay of politics and personal allegations in this case.
Ashok Kharat, known as ‘Captain’ due to his merchant navy background, has connections with various politicians, businesspeople, and celebrities, which adds another layer of intrigue to the situation.
As the investigation continues, many are left wondering what the implications of these allegations will be for Kharat and the political landscape in Maharashtra. Details remain unconfirmed, but the situation is evolving rapidly.
