RCB’s women’s team triumphed in the WPL 2026 final, defeating Delhi Capitals by six wickets in a historic match. This victory marks RCB’s second WPL title.
In a thrilling conclusion to the WPL 2026, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) women’s team secured their second title by defeating the Delhi Capitals by six wickets, achieving a record chase of 204 runs with just two balls to spare.
This remarkable victory not only highlights RCB’s prowess but also sets a new benchmark in the league, as their chase of 204 runs is the highest ever recorded in both WPL and IPL finals. It marks the first time in Women’s T20 history that a target above 175 has been successfully chased down in a final.
Smriti Mandhana was a standout performer for RCB, scoring an impressive 87 runs off just 41 balls. Her innings was complemented by Georgia Voll, who contributed 79 runs from 54 deliveries. Despite an early setback with Grace Harris falling for just eight runs, RCB’s batting lineup proved resilient.
On the other side, Jemimah Rodrigues led the charge for Delhi Capitals, scoring 57 runs off 37 balls. However, their efforts fell short as RCB’s bowlers managed to contain the scoring effectively.
Dinesh Karthik, reflecting on RCB’s campaign, praised the team’s performance throughout the tournament, stating, “That was an unreal WPL FINALS. RCB were just too good throughout the tournament.” His sentiments were echoed by HD Kumaraswamy, who congratulated the team on their achievement, saying, “Heartiest congratulations to @RCBTweets Women on winning the 2026 Women’s Premier League title and scripting yet another proud chapter in women’s cricket.”
Mithali Raj also highlighted the significance of the victory, noting, “Big moments, big leaders. @mandhana_smriti stood tall on the biggest stage, with excellent support from Georgia Voll, as RCB Women clinched their second WPL crown.”
This win continues the trend of disappointment for the Delhi Capitals, who have now finished as runners-up in every edition of the WPL to date. Their journey to the finals has been commendable, but they have yet to secure a championship title.
As the dust settles on this exhilarating final, observers are left to ponder what the future holds for both teams. RCB’s victory cements their place in WPL history, while Delhi Capitals will need to regroup and strategize for the next season.
