Weather Ghaziabad: Powerful Pre-Monsoon Storm Hits Region

A powerful pre-monsoon storm is sweeping across Ghaziabad, prompting an orange alert due to expected rainfall and gusty winds.

A powerful pre-monsoon storm is sweeping across northern India, with Ghaziabad experiencing significant weather changes as a result. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for the region due to expected moderate rain, gusty winds, and lightning.

Residents can expect light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning. Gusty winds are anticipated to reach speeds of 30 to 40 kilometres per hour across the Delhi and NCR region. The maximum temperature is expected to remain around 31 to 33 degrees Celsius by Monday.

In addition to Ghaziabad, a yellow alert has been issued for the neighbouring Noida region. Strong winds with speeds of 20 to 30 km/h are expected during the evenings and nights, raising concerns about safety.

Conditions may worsen on March 19 and 20, with winds potentially reaching up to 50 km/h. Residents are advised to stay indoors, avoid open spaces, and keep away from windows during lightning activity.

This weather event marks the season’s first pre-monsoon rain, arriving approximately 10 days earlier than usual, according to Mahesh Palawat, a meteorologist. The unsettled weather is not limited to the north; western Himalayan regions are also receiving snowfall at higher altitudes.

As the storm progresses, authorities are closely monitoring the situation and will provide updates as necessary. The IMD’s proactive alerts aim to ensure public safety during this turbulent weather period.

Details remain unconfirmed regarding the full impact of the storm, but residents are urged to remain vigilant and prepared for rapidly changing conditions.
