Singhania led the Raymond Group for two decades, transforming it into a global fashion powerhouse after taking over in 1980. Under his leadership, the company expanded into synthetic fabrics, denim, steel, industrial files, and cement, showcasing his vision and entrepreneurial spirit.

He was not only a successful businessman but also a recipient of the prestigious Padma Bhushan, awarded for his contributions to industry and society. His achievements extended beyond the corporate world; he held a world record for the highest altitude achieved in a hot air balloon, reaching an impressive 69,000 feet.

In 2000, Singhania transferred his entire 37 percent stake in the company to his son, Gautam Singhania, ensuring a smooth transition of leadership. His influence continued as he served as the chairman of the governing council of the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, from 2007 to 2012.

Singhania was also recognized for his contributions to aviation, being made an honorary air commodore by the Indian Air Force in 1994. His adventurous spirit was further highlighted when he set a speed-over-time endurance record for microlight aircraft in 1988.

In 2006, he took on the ceremonial role of sheriff of Mumbai, a testament to his standing in the community. The Raymond Group released a statement mourning his passing, describing him as “a visionary leader, philanthropist, and an inspiring personality, whose legacy will continue to guide and inspire generations.”
