“Deeply regret to inform that Producer/Director/Composer Thakkali Srinivasan passed away due to health complications in Bengaluru,” stated Nikil Murukan, confirming the news of his passing on March 10, 2026.
Thakkali Srinivasan, who was 72 years old at the time of his death, was a multifaceted talent in the Tamil film industry, known for his work as a producer, director, composer, and actor. He began his career in 1987 with the film Ivargal Varungala Thoongal and went on to produce several landmark films.
His notable productions included Manasukul Mathappu, released in 1988, and Nalaya Manithan in 1989, both of which contributed significantly to Tamil cinema. Srinivasan also directed and composed music for Jenma Natchathiram, a remake of the classic horror film The Omen, which was released in 1991.
In addition to his work behind the camera, he played the antagonist in the Kamal Hassan-starrer Soora Samharam, showcasing his versatility as an actor. His last directorial project was Aduthathu, inspired by Agatha Christie’s novel And Then There Were None.
