TTD has introduced significant measures to alleviate heat stress for pilgrims at Tirumala temple, enhancing their experience during peak summer.
As temperatures soar, TTD has implemented extensive measures to provide relief from the heat for pilgrims visiting Tirumala. This comes as the summer rush brings thousands to the revered Tirumala temple, where comfort can often take a back seat.
Previously, pilgrims faced long waits under the sweltering sun, with limited access to cooling facilities. The situation often led to discomfort and health risks, especially for the elderly and young children. However, TTD’s recent initiatives aim to transform that experience.
The decisive moment came when TTD announced its investment of approximately two crore rupees to enhance facilities. This funding has enabled the installation of shaded shelters stretching from Batagangamma Circle to Gogarbham Dam Circle and along the Outer Ring Road. Such improvements directly impact how pilgrims navigate their journey.
Furthermore, TTD has arranged mobile water drums throughout these areas to ensure that visitors have easy access to drinking water. With a total of 16 medical centers now operational in Tirumala, immediate health concerns can be addressed efficiently.
This summer, TTD also prioritized laddu distribution by increasing availability to an additional 3.50 lakh laddus during peak times. This ensures that not only are spiritual needs met but also that the culinary traditions of Tirumala are upheld amidst the crowds.
The new arrangements also include enhanced accommodation protocols. Families with more members receive priority in room allocation, while solo pilgrims face restrictions—this policy aims to maximize comfort for larger groups during busy periods.
Moreover, TTD has established 11 mini Kalyana Kattas across various rest houses for further convenience. With 1,152 barbers available—269 of whom are women—pilgrims can enjoy grooming services without long waits.
That context matters because it highlights how TTD is adapting its services in response to growing visitor numbers and seasonal challenges. Experts note that such proactive measures not only improve safety but also enhance the overall pilgrimage experience.
