India, under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer, achieved a 3-0 T20I series sweep against Zimbabwe. The final match took place at the Harare Sports Club on Sunday, where India secured a 35-run victory. This achievement marks Iyer’s first series win as captain, which he described as a “special moment.” The team’s performance was characterized by a fearless approach and the maturity displayed by its young players throughout the series.
In the decisive third T20I, India posted a total of 192/5. The chase by Zimbabwe concluded with them reaching 157/7. Iyer highlighted the energy and intent shown by his players, particularly during back-to-back games, as crucial to their success. The batting effort for India in the final match was spearheaded by Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who scored 81 runs off 49 balls, including eight fours and four sixes. Before the series began, Iyer achieved a unique captaincy milestone by winning his eighth consecutive toss in T20 Internationals, surpassing former captain MS Dhoni’s record of seven.
