Mht cet: What Does the Second Attempt for Mean for Students?

The introduction of a second attempt for MHT CET marks a significant change, giving students another chance to enhance their scores.

The introduction of a second attempt for MHT CET marks a significant change in the examination process, allowing students more opportunities to improve their scores. Starting from May 9, 2026, around 4,92,383 students will have the chance to retake the exam.

This year is particularly noteworthy as it represents the first time the CET Cell has implemented two attempts for these entrance exams, following a national trend seen in examinations like JEE (Main). In the first attempt, 8,96,236 students registered, with 8,33,482 appearing—resulting in an impressive attendance rate of 92.99%.

That context matters because it reflects both the demand for these entrance exams and the importance of scoring well. The second attempt provides an additional opportunity for students who may not have performed as well as they hoped initially.

The schedule for the upcoming exams breaks down as follows:

  • The MBA/MMS CET will be conducted on May 9, 2026, for 53,931 candidates.
  • The PCB group exam is set for May 10 and 11, 2026, involving 1,16,538 students.
  • The PCM group exam will take place from May 12 to May 21, excluding May 16 and 17, with 3,21,914 candidates participating.

Interestingly, if candidates opt to appear for both attempts, only the higher percentile score will be considered for admission. This approach aims to alleviate some pressure while promoting fairness in admissions.

The anticipated results from these exams could be significant. For instance, a score of 100 marks in MHT CET is expected to yield a percentile range of approximately 88 to 92 for PCM and 85 to 90 for PCB. Such calculations are crucial as they directly impact student placements in various colleges.

The official release of the MHT CET 2026 Answer Key Session 1 is expected by May 2, providing candidates with essential feedback on their performance. Students can download the answer key and response sheet from cetcell.mahacet.org.

The changes introduced this year reflect an evolving educational landscape that prioritizes student success and accessibility in competitive examinations.
