Arshdeep singh: What Happened to During the T20 World Cup Final?

Arshdeep Singh faced disciplinary action during the T20 World Cup final, reflecting strict ICC regulations. He was fined and received demerit points.

Arshdeep Singh was fined 15% of his match fee after a Level 1 breach of the ICC Code of Conduct during the T20 World Cup final against New Zealand on March 10, 2026. This incident underscores the strict enforcement of ICC regulations in high-stakes matches.

The breach occurred when Arshdeep threw the ball at Daryl Mitchell’s pads, violating Article 2.9 of the ICC Code of Conduct. As a result, he received one demerit point added to his disciplinary record. This was his first offence within a 24-month period.

India’s victory by 96 runs over New Zealand marked a historic achievement, making them the first team to win the T20 World Cup on home soil. This win added to India’s previous titles in 2007 and 2024, bringing their total to 3.

Arshdeep accepted the sanction proposed by Andy Pycroft of the ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees. Under ICC regulations, a Level 1 breach carries a minimum punishment of an official reprimand and a maximum fine of 50% of a player’s match fee.

This disciplinary action may have implications for Arshdeep’s future in cricket. Despite being recognized as a premium bowler for PBKS, he is predicted to be dropped from the playing XI for their upcoming match against GT in IPL 2026.

Priyansh Arya is expected to take his place as an opener for PBKS, while Marco Jansen and Lockie Ferguson will handle pace bowling duties. Arshdeep’s situation illustrates how disciplinary actions can impact player selections in professional sports.

As teams prepare for future matches, including IPL engagements, players must remain vigilant about their conduct on the field. The consequences can be significant—not just in terms of fines but also in opportunities missed due to disciplinary records.
