In a recent development, Khawaja Asif, Pakistan’s Defence Minister, made alarming statements regarding the potential for conflict with India. Speaking to reporters in Sialkot, Asif warned that Pakistan would retaliate with a strike on Kolkata if a future conflict were to arise. This warning comes in the wake of heightened tensions following the Pahalgam attack, which had previously ignited a four-day conflict between the two nations.

Asif’s remarks were a direct response to Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s assertion about taking ‘unprecedented action’ against Pakistan. In his statements, Asif claimed that India is allegedly planning false flag operations, which he suggested could involve staging incidents with detained Pakistanis.

He stated, “If India tries to stage any false flag operation this time, then God-willingly, we will take it to Kolkata.” This declaration underscores the seriousness with which Pakistan views the current geopolitical landscape and its readiness to respond to perceived threats.

Asif emphasized that Pakistan’s response to any attack from India would be “swift, calibrated, and decisive.” However, he did not provide any evidence to support his claims regarding India’s alleged plans for false flag operations.

The context of these statements is crucial, as they reflect the ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan, particularly in light of recent events. The Pahalgam attack has heightened fears of escalation, making Asif’s comments particularly significant.

As the situation unfolds, the implications of Asif’s warning could have far-reaching consequences for both countries. The potential for miscalculation or misunderstanding in such a charged atmosphere raises concerns about the stability of the region.

Asif’s comments serve as a reminder of the fragile nature of peace between India and Pakistan, where even a minor incident could lead to significant military responses. The international community is watching closely, as any escalation could destabilize the region further.

Details remain unconfirmed regarding the specific nature of India’s alleged plans, but the rhetoric from both sides indicates a precarious balance of power. The coming days may reveal more about how both nations will navigate this tense situation.

In summary, Khawaja Asif’s warning to India highlights the ongoing volatility in South Asia, where historical grievances and recent incidents continue to shape the dialogue between these two nuclear-armed neighbors.

Reaction from the field

The recent statements from Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf have heightened tensions in the region, particularly concerning the potential for US military action in Iran. Ghalibaf condemned what he termed the enemy’s aggression, asserting that any ground invasion by the US would be met with a “relentless” and “decisive” response. This declaration underscores the seriousness with which Iranian officials view the prospect of direct military engagement.

Ghalibaf’s remarks come amid accusations that the US is using diplomatic overtures as a guise for secret invasion plans. He emphasized that Iranian forces are “waiting” for any US soldiers attempting a ground entry, indicating a readiness to respond to perceived threats. This stance marks a significant escalation in rhetoric, as Ghalibaf declared that Tehran would no longer distinguish between US and Israeli actions, suggesting a unified approach to perceived aggressions from both nations.

In a striking quote, Ghalibaf stated, “If they hit one, they’ll take several back,” illustrating Iran’s commitment to retaliate forcefully against any military actions taken by the US. This statement reflects a broader sentiment within Iranian leadership that any attack would not go unanswered, potentially leading to a cycle of escalation in military confrontations.

The geopolitical landscape surrounding Iran is particularly fraught, especially in the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz, where tensions have historically been high. The situation in this region is unlikely to return to its pre-war status, as ongoing conflicts and military posturing continue to shape the dynamics of power in the Middle East.

In a separate but related development, Nabil Gabol, a Pakistani politician, has publicly distanced himself from the notorious figure Dawood Ibrahim, stating, “I have never met him, nor do I know if he lives in Karachi.” This statement comes amidst ongoing discussions about regional security and the implications of criminal networks on international relations.

Additionally, JICA President Tanaka Akihiko recently met with GEAPP CEO Woochong Um at JICA headquarters in Tokyo, expressing hope for future collaboration across various sectors. This meeting highlights the ongoing diplomatic efforts in the region, even as military tensions rise.

As the situation evolves, the international community watches closely. The potential for conflict remains high, and details regarding the US’s military intentions are still unfolding. Uncertainties linger about how Iran will navigate these threats and what the implications will be for regional stability.

Details remain unconfirmed regarding the exact nature of US plans and Iran’s subsequent actions, but the stakes are undeniably high as both nations prepare for possible confrontations.

The post Uss abraham lincoln: What Happened with the and Iran’s Missile Claims? appeared first on yesdaidanews.com.

The numbers

On March 25, 2026, Iran asserted that it launched a cruise missile towards the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier, a claim that has heightened existing tensions in the region. The Iranian Army’s public relations department reported that coastal cruise missiles were fired in the direction of the carrier, although the United States has yet to confirm any missile strike.

Iran’s naval commander issued a stark warning that the USS Abraham Lincoln would be targeted if it entered the range of Iran’s missile systems. This statement underscores the escalating military rhetoric between the two nations, particularly in light of recent conflicts in West Asia, where the United States and Israel have conducted airstrikes against Iranian positions since late February.

A video released by Iranian state media purportedly shows missile launches and the sounds of explosions, but the authenticity of this footage has not been independently verified. The Iranian military claimed that the USS Abraham Lincoln was forced to change its position due to the missile launch, further intensifying the situation.

Lieutenant Colonel Ebrahim Zolfaqari, a spokesperson for the Iranian military, stated, “The Iranian Navy’s Qader cruise missiles targeted the USS Abraham Lincoln carrier belonging to the US and forced it to change its position.” He also emphasized that “the era of your promises is over. Today, there are only two fronts in the world: truth and falsehood,” reflecting Iran’s stance on its military capabilities and regional influence.

Despite these claims, there has been no confirmation from the United States regarding any missile impact, damage, or the current status of the USS Abraham Lincoln. The absence of US confirmation raises questions about the accuracy of Iranian assertions and the overall situation.

Iranian officials have denied any official communication with the United States regarding the missile launch, which adds to the ambiguity surrounding the event. The Iranian military has also declared that the era of relying on US assurances is over, indicating a shift in the regional power dynamics.

As the situation unfolds, observers are left to ponder the implications of these developments. The ongoing conflict in West Asia, coupled with the lack of independent verification of the missile launch and its effects, leaves many uncertainties. Details remain unconfirmed, and the exact status of the USS Abraham Lincoln following the reported missile launch remains unclear.

Escalation of Hostilities

The Israel Iran conflict has seen a significant escalation since February 28, 2026, when a large-scale attack targeted Iran’s leadership, nuclear facilities, and conventional forces. This military campaign, involving both Israel and the United States, aims to degrade or eliminate Iran’s military capabilities, particularly its nuclear and ballistic missile programs. The consequences have been severe, with Iran reporting over 1,300 civilian deaths and nearly 10,000 civilian sites hit since the onset of hostilities.

In retaliation, Iran has launched missile strikes and drone missions targeting nearly all Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, with Oman remaining the only nation spared due to its neutrality and absence of American military bases. The Iranian Revolutionary Guards have executed a 37th wave of attacks aimed at Israeli locations and US bases in the Gulf region, further escalating tensions in an already volatile area.

Military and Civilian Casualties

The Pentagon has confirmed that approximately 140 US service members have been wounded, with seven fatalities reported since the launch of Operation Epic Fury. Iran’s military strategy includes threats to target economic centers and banks associated with US and Israeli entities, indicating a broader scope of conflict that extends beyond military engagements.

Accusations and Reactions

Iran has accused the US and Israel of deliberately attacking civilian infrastructure, including homes and healthcare facilities, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis. Ahmad-Reza Radan, an Iranian official, stated that those supporting the country’s enemies would be treated as ‘enemies’, highlighting the increasing polarization in the region.

Statements from Leaders

Former Israeli officials have remarked on the complexity of the situation, emphasizing that addressing Iran’s military capabilities will take time. Donald Trump has indicated that the military campaign could last at least four to five weeks, suggesting a prolonged conflict ahead. Meanwhile, Mohammed bin Abdulaziz al-Khulaifi, a GCC representative, noted that Iran’s attacks on its neighbors bring ‘benefit for no one’, reflecting the broader regional concerns about stability.

Strategic Coercion

Iran is employing a strategy of second-order coercion, attempting to compel the US and Israel to cease their military assaults. However, the long-term effectiveness of this strategy remains unclear, as does the potential for internal chaos or civil war within Iran as a result of the ongoing conflict.

Uncertainties Ahead

Details remain unconfirmed regarding the exact duration and outcome of the US-Israeli military campaign. As the situation continues to evolve, the international community watches closely, aware that the stakes are high and the ramifications of this conflict could have lasting effects on regional and global stability.

The recent developments in the Israel-Iran conflict have shifted expectations, as Iran continues to reject ceasefire proposals from the US.

Background of the Conflict

The Israel-Iran war began on February 28, 2026, when the United States and Israel launched attacks on Iran. This marked a significant escalation in hostilities, with both sides engaging in military actions that have resulted in considerable casualties and disruptions in the region.

Current Situation

As of March 10, 2026, the situation has evolved dramatically. Despite the ongoing conflict, Iran has firmly rejected ceasefire proposals from the US, with its foreign minister stating that a unilateral declaration of victory by the US would not suffice to end the hostilities. Iran insists on a permanent deal that guarantees no future attacks against it.

Casualties and Impact

The war has led to significant loss of life, with reports indicating that 1,230 people have been killed in Iran, 397 in Lebanon, and 11 in Israel since the conflict began. Additionally, 7 U.S. service members have also lost their lives. The US has reported 140 service members wounded, highlighting the war’s human cost.

Economically, the conflict has severely impacted global oil markets, as approximately 20 percent of the world’s crude oil passes through the Strait of Hormuz. Iran’s actions have effectively halted tanker operations in this critical waterway, leading to a spike in Brent crude oil prices, which reached $120 per barrel before stabilizing at around $90.

Statements from Iranian Officials

Iranian officials have made it clear that they are not seeking a ceasefire. Mohammed Ghalibaf, the speaker of Iran’s parliament, stated, “We are absolutely NOT seeking a ceasefire.” Kazem Gharibabadi emphasized that any ceasefire must come with guarantees against future aggression.

Expert Perspectives

Experts have weighed in on the situation, noting that the conflict’s dynamics have shifted significantly. Masoud Pezeshkian remarked, “The destroyers have come and gone. Iran remains,” indicating Iran’s resilience in the face of military pressure. Meanwhile, Ali Larijani asserted, “Iran doesn’t fear your empty threats. Even those bigger than you couldn’t eliminate Iran,” underscoring the nation’s determination.

Future Uncertainties

Despite the current state of affairs, uncertainties remain regarding the potential for a ceasefire. The exact conditions under which Iran would agree to halt hostilities are unclear. Details remain unconfirmed.

What do Hezbollah’s recent strikes on Israel signify?

The recent strikes by Hezbollah on Israel raise critical questions about the escalating conflict in the region. These actions have resulted in casualties and military engagements, highlighting the ongoing hostilities between the two parties.

Thirty projectiles were launched from Iran and Lebanon towards northern Israel, leading to significant military responses. An Iranian strike reportedly killed two people in Israel, while Hezbollah’s rocket fire wounded at least sixteen others.

In retaliation, the Israeli military destroyed several rocket launchers in Lebanon shortly after they were fired. Israel claims to have struck more than 700 Hezbollah targets, including sites linked to the Radwan Force, indicating a substantial military effort to counter the attacks.

Hezbollah, on the other hand, has vowed to continue its fight against Israel with all available means, claiming missile strikes on Israeli positions and tanks. This escalation is part of a broader historical context, as Hezbollah and Israel have a long history of conflict, with recent escalations involving missile strikes and military responses.

The situation remains fluid, with both sides engaged in a cycle of retaliation. As military actions continue, the potential for further escalation remains a concern for regional stability.

Details remain unconfirmed regarding the full extent of the damage and casualties on both sides, as the conflict evolves. The international community is closely monitoring the situation, with calls for restraint and dialogue to prevent further violence.

Escalation in the Israel-Iran War

On March 8, 2026, the Israel-Iran war intensified as the United States and Israel targeted five oil facilities in and near Tehran, resulting in the deaths of four individuals. This military action marks a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict that began with US-Israeli strikes on February 28, 2026.

In retaliation, Iran launched drone and missile strikes aimed at Israeli and US interests across the region. Air raid sirens were activated throughout Israel as several missiles were reported to have been launched from Iran, heightening fears of further conflict.

The Israeli military confirmed that missile attacks from Iran have resulted in the deaths of at least ten people in Israel, underscoring the severity of the situation. Details remain unconfirmed regarding the exact number of casualties and damage from these missile strikes.

Keramat Veyskarami, an Iranian official, stated, “Four of our personnel, including two oil tanker drivers, were killed in the incident,” highlighting the human cost of the strikes in Tehran. The attacks have not only affected military targets but have also had a direct impact on civilians.

In response to the escalating violence, UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan urged residents to forgive any shortcomings amid the ongoing conflict. He emphasized the importance of community solidarity during these turbulent times, stating, “Residents are part of the family.”

Security agencies in the UAE remain on high alert due to the regional tensions stemming from the conflict. The situation in Dubai and the surrounding areas is being closely monitored as the potential for further military action looms.

The ongoing conflict has drawn international attention, with various nations expressing concern over the rising hostilities. The United States has reiterated its support for Israel while also calling for de-escalation in the region.

As the situation develops, both military and civilian casualties continue to rise, raising alarms about the broader implications for stability in the Middle East. The international community is watching closely as diplomatic efforts may be necessary to prevent further escalation.

Explosion at the US Embassy

In the early hours of March 8, 2026, an explosion struck the consular section entrance of the United States Embassy in Oslo at around 1:00 am local time. Eyewitnesses reported hearing a loud blast and seeing smoke rising from the scene.

Despite the intensity of the explosion, authorities confirmed that no injuries were reported and the damage appeared to be minor. The Oslo police department quickly responded, deploying a bomb squad to the area and cordoning off a large perimeter around the embassy.

Michael Dellemyr, a spokesperson for the police, stated, “We are not going to comment on the type of damage or what may have exploded because it is very early in the investigation.” He further noted that it appears to be an act carried out by an individual, although details remain unconfirmed.

The explosion has raised security concerns in Oslo, particularly amid heightened alert for US diplomatic missions globally. This incident comes at a time of increased tensions between the United States and Iran, following military operations against Iran that have put US embassies on high alert.

As investigations continue, authorities have not found any additional explosive devices in the vicinity. Dellemyr emphasized that it is too early to connect this incident to the ongoing conflict with Iran, stating, “We’re not connecting it to the conflict. It’s far too early for that.”

Eyewitness Edvard described the scene, noting, “There were police dogs and drones and police with automatic weapons and helicopters in the air,” highlighting the extensive security response to the explosion.

Currently, the Norwegian Police are in contact with officials at the US embassy as they work to determine the cause of the explosion. The investigation remains ongoing, with authorities focused on ensuring the safety of the area and the embassy personnel.

This sequence of events underscores the heightened security measures in place for diplomatic missions, particularly in light of recent geopolitical tensions. The incident serves as a reminder of the vulnerabilities faced by embassies worldwide.

Iran asserts that the Natanz nuclear facility was attacked; however, the IAEA contests this claim.

The Iranian representative to the IAEA claimed that airstrikes from the US and Israel targeted the Natanz enrichment site, which contradicts the statement made by IAEA chief Rafael Grossi, who indicated that there was no evidence of damage to nuclear facilities. Tehran also expressed its discontent with Washington during the Board meeting.

Iran Claims Airstrikes on Natanz

Reported by AP on March 3, 2026, at 12:32 AM

Vienna: On Monday, Iran’s envoy to the International Atomic Energy Agency claimed that airstrikes conducted by the United States and Israel targeted the Natanz enrichment site in his nation.

This contradicts a statement made by Rafael Grossi, the head of the UN nuclear watchdog, who indicated that “up to this point” the agency has “no evidence” of any nuclear sites being struck in Iran.

IAEA Denies Damage Reports

“Once again, they targeted Iran’s nuclear facilities, which are under peaceful safeguards, yesterday (Sunday). Their claim that Iran aims to create nuclear weapons is nothing but a blatant falsehood,” Reza Najafi stated to reporters at the IAEA headquarters in Vienna, where a special session of the Board of Governors is convening at Russia’s request.

When a journalist inquired about which nuclear facility he was mentioning, Najafi answered, “Natanz.” Located approximately 220 kilometers (135 miles) south of the capital, the Natanz facility comprises both above-ground and subterranean laboratories that conducted the majority of Iran’s uranium enrichment activities.

Prior to the conflict, the IAEA reported that Iran had utilized sophisticated centrifuges at that location to enrich uranium to 60 percent, which is a minor technical step away from the weapons-grade threshold of 90 percent. It is believed that some of the material was still present when the entire facility was targeted last June.

Tensions Between Iran and US

The primary above-ground enrichment facility at Natanz was referred to as the Pilot Fuel Enrichment Plant. On June 13, Israel targeted the structure, rendering it “functionally destroyed,” and causing significant damage to the underground chambers housing cascades of centrifuges, as reported by Rafael Grossi, the IAEA’s director-general, at that time. A subsequent US strike on June 22 targeted Natanz’s subterranean sites with bunker-busting munitions, likely obliterating what was left.

During the special session of the Board of Governors, IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi stated that, as of now, the International Atomic Energy Agency has “no evidence that any nuclear facilities, including the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant, the Tehran Research Reactor, or other components of the nuclear fuel cycle” in Iran have sustained any damage or been targeted.

He mentioned that the IAEA is still attempting to reach out to the Iranian nuclear regulatory bodies through the IAEA’s own Incident and Emergency Centre “without any replies thus far,” due to the communication challenges posed by the ongoing conflict.

Rafael Grossi’s Statement

Grossi called for military caution, emphasizing that Iran and several other nations in the area that have faced military actions possess “operational nuclear power facilities and nuclear research reactors, along with related fuel storage locations, heightening the risk to nuclear safety.” He noted that, to date, “no increase in radiation levels beyond the normal background has been observed in countries adjacent to Iran.”

Najafi criticizes Trump

Najafi remarked that the United States employs “misleading tactics and false narratives to invade other nations.” He claimed that the conflict was initiated by US President Donald Trump, “who tries to present himself as a peacemaker and seeks the Nobel Peace Prize. Even when they discuss peace, it is a falsehood. And when they advocate for diplomacy, it’s rooted in deception,” he stated.

Najafi remarked that the assaults on his nation are “illegal, inhumane, and savage” and urged the nations of the 35-member IAEA Board of Governors to “firmly denounce” these actions.
