Success Stories from Tamil Nadu

“As an IAS officer, I want to improve the service delivery systems so govt programmes reach people more effectively,” stated Rajeshwari Suve, who secured All-India Rank 2 in the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2025.

This year, Tamil Nadu has recorded one of its most impressive performances in the Civil Services Examination in a decade, with 56 candidates clearing the exam. Among them, A R Rajah Mohaideen achieved All-India Rank 7, expressing that, “The Covid pandemic made me think of becoming a civil servant.”

Rajeshwari Suve, an engineering graduate from Anna University, Chennai, is currently serving as a deputy collector in Dindigul district. Her journey to success was marked by perseverance, as she attempted the UPSC exam three times before shifting her focus to TNPSC exams.

Notably, 39 candidates from Tamil Nadu underwent residential coaching under the Naan Mudhalvan scheme, which provides guidance and coaching for competitive examinations. This initiative has been pivotal in preparing aspirants for the challenges of civil service exams.

“More than 150 candidates from TN appeared for the interview,” shared S Boominathan, highlighting the competitive spirit among the aspirants. Additionally, T Sankara Saravanan noted that while 39 candidates, including Rajeshwari Suve, were residential aspirants, 17, including Rajah Mohaideen, received fellowship.

Three candidates from Tamil Nadu secured ranks within the top 20 this year, showcasing the effectiveness of the coaching provided by the Naan Mudhalvan scheme. Last year, 57 candidates from the state passed the Civil Services Examination, indicating a consistent upward trend in performance.

Rajah Mohaideen also formed a Telegram group for joint preparation with other aspirants from Tamil Nadu, fostering a collaborative environment for success. This community-driven approach has proven beneficial for many candidates.

In total, 958 candidates were recommended for appointment this year, reflecting the growing number of successful aspirants from Tamil Nadu. Among them, Sruthi R achieved All-India Rank 18, further contributing to the state’s remarkable achievements in civil services.

The Naan Mudhalvan scheme continues to empower candidates, providing them with the necessary resources and support to excel in their civil service aspirations. As Tamil Nadu celebrates these successes, the focus remains on sustaining this momentum in future examinations.
