NATO commenced its biennial Arctic military exercise, Cold Response, on March 9, 2026, with approximately 25,000 troops from 14 nations participating. The exercise, which will run until March 19, aims to enhance military readiness in the Arctic region.

Since its inception in 2001, Exercise Lamitiye has served as a biennial training event, fostering cooperation between the Indian Armed Forces and the Seychelles Defence Forces. Notably, this edition marks the participation of all three branches of the Indian military.

BJP MLA Abhay Patil recently criticized the Election Commission of India’s electors mapping exercise in Belagavi, stating, “I think only around 20% of the names have been mapped in the last three months in Belagavi city.” He further noted that 60,000 names were left out from the initial mapping in the Belagavi South constituency, calling the situation “unacceptable.”

The NATO mission Arctic Sentry was previously launched to ease tensions with former President Trump regarding Greenland, highlighting the strategic importance of the Arctic region in global defense discussions.
