Imran Tahir has been heartbroken after he was not selected in South Africa’s team for ‘ICC T20 WORLD CUP Tournament, 2021’.

Cricket South Africa (CSA) announced the 15-member team on Thursday, 9 September, in which Imran Tahir was not named. Tahir told the pain of his heart in the matter itself. Imran Tahir revealed the secret that ‘Cricket South Africa’ director Graeme Smith had promised to pick him in the T20 WC team.

Tahir said that Graeme Smith did not keep his promise, which he gave to him last year. He said, “I regret that I am not on the team. Last year Graeme Smith told me that he wants me to play in the World Cup. I clearly said that I am available and excited too Because you give me respect. I’m ready. I’m working very hard. You all can see my performance in the league. That’s why he likes me. He also said that he was AB ( AB de Villiers) and Faf du Plessis. They put me in the Proteas Group and everything, but after that no one contacted me.”

Imran Tahir further said that his former teammate Mark Boucher did not contact him even once after becoming the head coach of South Africa. Tahir said, “A few months later I messaged Smith and Boucher, but no one responded to me. Mark Boucher has become the head coach. He told me about his plan. Didn’t contact even once. Sorry man. I played for the country for 10 years. I think I deserve more respect than him.”

Significantly, former South Africa captain Faf du Plessis and Chris Morris were sidelined from the team. Tahir hasn’t played a single match for South Africa after retiring from One Day Internationals after ‘ICC ODI WORLD CUP, 2019’. However, he remained available for T20 Internationals and continued to play in various T20 events. There is no doubt that Imran Tahir was a contender for the ICC T20 WORLD CUP Tournament, 2021 team due to the lack of a very strong consignment of the best spin bowler in the South African team.
