The death of ten children in a fire at the district general hospital here is extremely tragic. While instructing that precautionary measures should be taken immediately to prevent such incidents in future, the families of each deceased child will be given assistance of Rs two lakh each, Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari said after inspecting the general hospital here today.
Governor Koshyari visited the District General Hospital today. He also sought information from senior officials regarding the incident. Assembly Speaker Nana Patole, MP Sunil Mendhe, MLA Parinay Phuke, Narendra Bhondekar, Raju Karemore, District Collector Sandeep Kadam, District Superintendent of Police Vasant Jadhav were present on the occasion.
Ten children were killed in a fire that broke out in the neonatal intensive care unit of the district general run in Bhandara last Saturday. Also, seven children were rescued safely. Governor Shri. Koshyari visited and interacted with the mothers of the infants and inquired about their condition. He instructed the medical authorities to take proper care of the children and mothers. He then visited the crashed ICU room. After this inspection, Shri. Koshyari instructed the families of each child who died in the incident to provide Rs 2 lakh from the voluntary fund.
Earlier, the governor arrived at the rest house in the morning. He sought detailed information from District Collector Sandeep Kadam and District Superintendent of Police Vasant Jadhav regarding the fire incident at the hospital. Representatives of various organizations and associations met the Governor and made a statement regarding the incident.
